When the homeowners approached us, they weren’t just looking for a simple platform for their grill—they wanted a signature architectural feature that would redefine their backyard.
Premium Materials Meet Modern Design
To accomplish their vision, we selected Trex transcend lineage in Biscayne for the decking. This choice provides a sleek, coastal-inspired aesthetic that stays cooler under the Idaho sun and was paired perfectly with the industrial elegance of Trex aluminum railing. The contrast between the light, airy tones of the Biscayne boards and the bold black lines of the steel railing creates a clean, sophisticated look that complements the home’s modern exterior.
Artistry in the Details: Custom Curves & Inlays
What truly sets this project apart is the technical difficulty of the build. While some decks embrace the rigidity of straight lines, this project asked for our in-house board bending capabilities to bring it to life. These custom-curved boards wrap seamlessly around the deck’s perimeter and flow into the wide, cascading staircases, creating a natural, organic silhouette that mimics the landscape.
The centerpiece of the entire build is a massive 6′ x 9′ custom-built inlay star. Hand-cut and meticulously fitted, this compass stands as a permanent work of art beneath the feet of guests, proving that with the right team, a deck can be much more than just a place to sit—it can be a destination.
